PlayStation’s latest State of Play event featured a brief look at the upcoming Until Dawn remake which was revealed to be coming sometime this Fall for PS5 and PC.
This version of the interactive horror movie has been “rebuilt and enhanced” for PS5 and PC using the Unreal Engine 5. Based on what we got to see, the visual upgrade is pretty damn tasty. It doesn’t stop there though, because new locations and even new scenes are included. For example, I’m fairly sure the shot of Josh being manhandled onto the couch is completely new.
A PlayStation blog post earlier this year revealed other things we can expect, such as a new score from horror composer Mark Korven. There will also be a new third-person camera view, giving players a better look than ever at the environments rather than being limited to the static cameras of the original game.
There is an Until Dawn movie in the works with no official release date. I kind of expected them to hold the remake back until closer to the movie coming out, but it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting the film this year.
