To celebrate the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, PlayStation Access, a Youtube channel owned by Sony, has out together a list titled “Top 30 PlayStation Games of All Time”. Surely, there can be absolutely no differing opinions or controversy?
Unsurprisingly the channel focuses entirely on the PlayStation brand and is essentially a giant marketing ad. Provided you understand that, it’s an entertaining channel to watch.
In this case, the games have apparently been voted on by PlayStation fans across the globe. Exact numbers weren’t given, so it could have jut been one dude in his bedroom or it could have been millions of people. Given the 2.12m subscribers though, I’m assuming there must have been at least a few gamers casting their votes.
So, what game walked away with the coveted title of Best PlayStation Game of All Time? It was, of course, Concord.
Okay, that’s obviously not true. The actual winner was far less surprising: The Last of Us. Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic tale of love, violence, family and more violence took the number 1 spot. While it probably wouldn’t have been my choice, I can totally understand it being the winner.
The rest of the list contains most of the games you’d expect, but is also missing some PlayStation icons that surprised me. No Tomb Raider? No Spyro? No Crash Bandicoot? Insanity, I say.
Congrats to Final Fantasy though, which managed to claim an impressive one fifth of the list by itself.
