Before we got HBO’s The Last Of Us, the first foray Sony made into bringing its PlayStation IP’s into film and tv world was Uncharted, a film starring Tom Holland as the titular Nathan Drake and Mark Walhberg as Sully.
While the film was critically panned it did well enough at the box office and with audiences that a sequel was almost a surefire thing, and now we have confirmation that a sequel is indeed happening.
Confirmed during Sony’s presentation at CineEurope 2024 (per Variety), a sequel to the 2022 film is on its way, though there are no details to be parsed through yet.
We can expect to see Holland and Walhberg return to their respective roles, but beyond that we don’t know how the story will continue. The first film was a prequel of sorts, taking place long before the events of the games.
It was already it’s own telling of Nathan Drake’s story, a point made clear when major changes were made to how Nathan and Sully meet. So we could see plenty more changes to come in this sequel.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see what those changes could be.
