It seems like tons of classic movies are getting new 4K Blu-ray releases lately, and the next appears to be Martin Scorsese’s 1976 crime thriller, Taxi Driver. A Steelbook edition 4K Blu-ray of the Oscar-nominated film is dropping on June 25, and preorders are available now at Amazon.
$46
Taxi Driver stars Robert De Nero as Travis Bickle, a New York taxi cab driver plagued by insomnia and violent thoughts. The film is set during a dangerous period in Manhattan’s history when the city suffered from widespread crime, addiction, and violence. Bickle witnesses these struggles first-hand and, coupled with his chronic lack of sleep, his mental health deteriorates to the point of violence.
De Nero earned an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Bickle, and the film was nominated for Best Picture.
The two-disc Taxi Driver steelbook collector’s edition includes 4K, standard Blu-ray, and digital download copies of the film, plus several hours of bonus content. The steelbook case features artwork from the movie on the cover and inner panels.
