Metro: Awakening VR’s Latest Update Adds Arachnophobia Mode And Weapon Handling Fixes

Published:

Metro: Awakening VR arrived on PS VR2 last week, and it immediately shot up the list for ‘must-play games on PS VR2.’ In our review, we said “Metro Awakening is rich with atmosphere, strong performances, and tight gameplay that makes it one of the best survival horror games in the genre.”

However one thing that did sour our reviewers experience a tad (and that of plenty others) was the spiders, and the lack of an Arachnophobia mode.

Thankfully developer Vertigo Games made it clear that an Arachnophobia mode was coming, and it’s officially here with the game’s latest update.

“We’ve just rolled out a new hotfix for Metro Awakening on all platforms addressing community feedback on 2 handed weapons, left handed locomotion + Arachnophobia Mode,” the studio posted on the game’s official Twitter account.

Rather than turn the spiders into low-poly versions or give them a less-terrifying re-design, when turned on from the menu the Arachnophobia mode simply takes all spiders out of the game, so you don’t deal with them at all. Though it’s still unclear if the sections that feature spiders will feature the other monsters that stalk the Moscow Metro.

You can check out the full patch notes for the update below.
