The next set of Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair offerings, the Spring Superdrop 2024, is on its way, and with it comes an unexpected collaboration. Hatsune Miku will become the next video game IP to join the MTG ranks with the Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar drop beginning May 13.
The Sakura Superstar drop will be the first of four Hatsune Miku drops coming to Magic’s Secret Lair limited-time shop between now and the end of the year, with each drop focused on a different season. The theme for Sakura Superstar, as the name suggests, is centered around the annual flowering of cherry blossoms–or “sakura”–in Japan.
This Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar drop will include six cards, all of which are reprints of previously released cards–though three of them are renamed to fit the Hatsune Miku theme. The six cards are as follows:
- Miku, Lost but Singing, a renamed version of Azusa, Lost but Seeking
- Miku’s Spark, a renamed version of Chandra’s Ignition
- Miku, The Renowned, a renamed version of Feather, the Redeemed
- Harmonize
- Inspiring Vantage
- Shelter
Hatsune Miku is the latest video-game-related franchise to come to Magic: The Gathering through Secret Lair, with Tomb Raider making its MTG debut back in November. Other games previously seen in Secret Lairs include Street Fighter, Fortnite, and Fallout–which also featured in a set of four pre-constructed decks for the Commander format that was released last month.
The Secret Lair Spring Superdrop 2024 will go on sale May 13 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. The Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar drop will cost $30 for non-foil and $40 for foil, and both foil and non-foil will be available in English and Japanese.
