HBO’s The Last Of Us will be back with Season 2 sometime in 2025, and over the weekend we got our very first look at shots from the coming season in the first teaser trailer for Season 2.
In it we hear dialogue from Pedro Pascal as Joel and Catherine O’Hara who was revealed as part of the cast back in February, though we still don’t know who exactly she is playing. The dialogue seems to be a conversation between the two, which implies that whoever she is, she’s part of the community at Jackson.
While the dialogue runs back and forth we get small snippets of different scenes from the season, including a short look at Jeffery Wright who is reprising his role of ‘Isaac’ from the game, and we also get a look at some of the tense situations Bella Ramsey as Ellie will face.
What was a nice little nod to fans of the game, however, is that the very, very first thing the teaser starts with is a shot of the Jackson dance hall the night that Ellie and Dina share their first kiss. Fans will recall that back before the game released, that scene was the first teaser Naughty Dog released for The Last Of Us Part 2.
Of course HBO doesn’t use that whole scene as the teaser, but that it starts with it is a nicely mirrored moment for fans of the games and the show.
Hopefully this teaser indicates that we’re going to start hearing more about when Season 2 will arrive, instead of just a general release window of next year.
