Command & Conquer conquers the European sales chart in surprise rush attack – WGB

The Command & Conquer franchise still has life in it yet if the latest European sales data is anything to go by.

According to data published by Gameindustry.biz based on European sales for the month of March, no less than five Command & Conquer games have made it into the top-ten following their surprise release on Steam, a move which meant every single C&C game was finally available to play on the platform.

The biggest performer was Command & Conquer: Generals which successfully captured 4th place, just behind Dragon’s Dogma 2. Red Alert, Red Alert 2, Renegade and Tiberian Sun have turtled up in 7th-10. That’s not all though, because the data shows a grand total of 11 C&C games in the top 20 for the month.

It’s pretty staggering to see this many C&C games storming the sales charts, and I can’t help but wonder if it might encourage EA to revive the franchise. The last entry was the Remastered collection, and there was a potential hint at more games in the series getting the same treatment. But we haven’t seen anything new from the series since 2010’s poorly received Tiberian Twilight.

The data shows game sales are up 35% from the same four-week period last year, and up 9% for the full quarter.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched late in March yet still managed to grab 3rd which is very impressive for Capcom and shows that the initial controversy surrounding the game’s day-1 microtransactions didn’t impact it very much.

Helldivers 2 was dethroned from the very top spot by EA Sports FC 24 but is still in 2nd place. Just a few days ago we learned that in the UK sales of Helldivers 2 are apparently outperforming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
