Square Enix announced Foamstars‘ next season will be its last. Titled “Party Goes On!”, the next season takes place between December 13, 2024, and January 17, 2025. After that, the developer will cease creating seasonal content for the multiplayer shooter.

Foamstars seasonal content ends next month

Although Foamstars seasonal updates will no longer occur, that doesn’t mean it won’t be playable. In fact, Square Enix is introducing a few new features once the upcoming season ends.

The next update will introduce expansions to enhance gameplay. This includes the ability to customize shots for each character, and new enhancement elements. In Square Enix’s statement, they say these implementations are there to ensure players “can continue to enjoy the game for the foreseeable future.” This implies Foamstars is here to stay for awhile.

After the “Party Goes On!” season ends, a series of in-game events called the Foamstars Cup will take place. This event will replace both Ranked Party Tribe-Vibe and Ranked Party Lonestar with Foamstars Cup Freedom League, and Foamstars Cup Legend League respectively. Each cup will be named after a specific Foamstar, and will rotate every four weeks. Rewards include items and icons based on the showcased character. Both events will occur daily.

Additionally, previous Foamstars Season Passes will be made available after January 17, 2025. This will allow both new and current players to select specific Season Passes to progress at any time at no additional cost. However, like past seasons, only the basic Season Pass is free. Players will still need to pay for the Premium Pass. Additionally, specific tiers within a Season Pass can be purchased to unlock rewards along that track.

Challenges in Foamstars will change slightly after the next season. The current Limited Time challenged will change to Event challenges. This will then be divided into a Daily Challenge (updated daily) and Event Challenge (updated every Saturday). Weekly challenges will mostly remain the same, however, will now switch out every four weeks instead of five.

Foamstars originally released in February 2024 for PS4 and PS5. Reviews were “Mixed to Average” as it received a 57 metascore on Metacritic. It was part of February 2024’s PS Plus monthly lineup, then became available to purchase on the PS Store for $29.99. It went free-to-play back in August.
