Alien: Rogue Incursion’s PS VR2 Release Revealed To Be Just Part One Of A Two-Part Story

Published:

UPDATE 21/12/2024: Developer Survios has sent a statement to PSU apologizing to players for misleading them regarding the split. You can check it out here.

Original Story:

Alien: Rogue Incursion just arrived on PS VR2 and PS5, though on launch it was apparent to players that part of the game’s look had changed.

There’s a “Part One” sub-title under the game’s name now on the PlayStation Store and all other digital storefronts the game is available on.

The description on the PlayStation Store reads: “Zula’s fight begins here: Part One of this gripping two-part story thrusts you into the violent world of Alien, where you will uncover the secrets lurking within the GES facility on LV-354, the enigmatic planet Purdan.”

“This installment stands alone as a complete story yet leaves you hanging on a thrilling cliffhanger, eager to dive deeper into Zula’s unfolding story in Part Two, where she will face new challenges and deadlier enemies.”

In the months leading up to the game’s launch, there’s been no real mention that it’s just the beginning of a longer story – not to mention the fact that there’s been no “Part One” subtitle to the game’s branding until it launched.

And there’s still been no mention of this on Survios’ official social accounts regarding the split – save for the game’s Discord, where the studio said “We know people are very concerned about the Part 1 thing in the game, so I’m here to give some answers:

Our attention is currently focused on making the Quest 3 version of Part One as good as possible for launch in February. Part 1 is indeed built as a standalone game, with Part 2 continuing the story and escalating the experience. Part Two is actively in development, and we promise we’ll have more to announce at a later date!”

In the barrage of questions coming from confused Discord community members, the studio also added that it “didn’t cut anything from Part 1 to make Part 2. It wasn’t halved, it wasn’t cut just like that. Part 1 is structurally and gameplay-wise finished.”

And “Our intentions right now are not to hide the fact that we did not communicate it before – our goal here is to make sure that new people coming to he stores know about it being a Part 1.”

But it seems it was alright for everyone who hit the pre-order button to be unaware that it was a Part One ahead of their purchase.

We’ve reached out to Survios for some more insight, and will update you if anything comes. In the meantime, our review of Alien: Rogue Incursion is on its way.
