Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is “the biggest Call of Duty ever,” according to Activision, who claims the latest entry in the annualized series tops every other franchise entry in three metrics.
Black Ops 6 is apparently now number one in: total players, hours played and total matches. These three rankings are what has made it, according to Activision, “the biggest Call of Duty ever” in its first 30-days.
“Thank you to the Call of Duty community for continuing to make the launch of Black Ops 6 one for the record books. In the first 30-days from launch, together you made Black Ops 6 the biggest Call of Duty ever,” reads a post from the official Call of Duty Twitter page.
In the days immediately following the launch of Black Ops 6, Microsoft chief executive officer Satya Nadella called Black Ops 6 “the biggest Call of Duty release ever.”
Player engagement for this year’s launch has been huge, in part due to Black Ops 6 being available on Xbox’s Game Pass subscription, allowing players to side-step the need to drop a fresh $70 on this year’s launch.
Even if you didn’t already have a Game Pass subscription, if you had a device that could access that service, it was clearly worth the $20 entry-fee to many players to not just get the latest Call of Duty, but a larger library of other games.
That’s made abundantly clear by the fact that across multiple regions, PlayStation is where the premium sales of Black Ops 6 are happening.
That, and analysts like Circana’s Mat Piscatella are reporting that Black Ops 6 has directly resulted in Game Pass getting a spike in subscriptions. But even with that option, Black Ops 6 was still the best-selling game in October 2024 in the US, Piscatella reports.
