A Days Gone PS5 Remaster Is Reportedly On Its Way, To Be Announced At The September 2024 State Of Play

A Days Gone Remaster for PS5 is reportedly set to be announced during the coming September 2024 State Of Play.

This comes from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who confirmed that a Days Gone Remaster is indeed the “even less exciting” remaster he hinted at earlier in the week that’s planned for PlayStation’s still unannounced showcase, which Grubb previously claimed is set for September 24, 2024.

After Grubb lay down his hint about an “even less exciting” remaster on the way following the leaked ESRB rating for the long-rumoured Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster, it was friend of the website VGC’s Jordan Middler who further fanned the flames by hinting the remaster being discussed was for Days Gone.

With Days Gone Remaster rumours abound, during his Game Mess Mornings show on Friday, Grubb confirmed that he was indeed talking about Days Gone.

“Yeah, this is it,” Grubb says after reading a synopsis of how the rumours around the remaster unfolded.

So it would seem that Days Gone is going to get the “Director’s Cut” treatment that Ghost Of Tsushima already got and that Horizon Zero Dawn is now seemingly about to get.

Another release from PlayStation that is ultimately just a better way to play first party games we’ve either already played or already ignored. It’s doubtful that some new graphical upgrades and a higher price tag is going to be the thing to get players to buy in on this new remaster. But it will be interesting to see how it performs.

At the very least Days Gone fans can feel like the game is getting its due, as Days Gone seems to always be characterized as the beguiled PlayStation Studios launch that remains underrated today.

It’ll also be intriguing to see how involved Bend Studio was with this project, and if the answer is “not very involved” then it’ll be curious to see who took the lead on the project.

As the Days Gone developer has reiterated multiple times now, it’s not working on a new Days Gone game. Though that could just be careful wording since a remaster of the original is, technically, not a new Days Gone game, but a new version of the old game.

It’s all semantics and speculation but at least from the sound of it, if Grubb is right about this coming Tuesday’s State Of Play, we won’t have to wait too long for answers.
