Rumored The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake Might Release Soon

Published:

Rumors surrounding The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake have been swirling around the world wide web for quite some time now. They’ve returned — and it seems the game could be coming sooner than we think.

According to leaker Extas1s, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake is not just real, but he claims it is set for a release in 2025. Additionally, he speculates its reveal would be at an Xbox Direct in January.

Previous rumors about the remake stated it would be developed by Virtuos, a studio that has aided Sony in the past with game development, including Horizon Zero Dawn, Heavy Rain, and Dark Souls Remastered. They have also helped with loads of third party AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077, and the upcoming remake Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The studio is allegedly building the game using Unreal Engine 5.

Although The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake will reportedly be revealed by Xbox, rumored platforms include Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Since Bethesda is an Xbox Studio, it seems logical that Xbox would be the ones to reveal it. However, Microsoft’s gaming platform isn’t afraid to launch its games on PlayStation. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, another Bethesda published game, is also set to launch on Sony’s platform next year.

Like all rumors like this, take this information with a grain of salt. The status of a game in development changes every day. So, even if the remake were real, it’s also possible for it to get scrapped as nothing has yet been revealed. At the very least, we’ll know if these rumors are true next month.

If The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake does launch for PS5 next year, it would satiate that fan base. Not much is known about The Elder Scrolls VI. However, it is known that it will not be coming to PS5.
