Sony’s Until Dawn Movie Lands A 2025 Release Date

Published:

At the beginning of 2024, Sony Pictures announced that an Until Dawn feature film was in the works based on the 2015 interactive game from Supermassive Games and Sony. Now, Until Dawn has finished filming and the movie will head to the big screen just a few months ahead of the game’s tenth anniversary in 2025.

Sony has set an April 25, 2025 release date for Until Dawn, which was directed by David F. Sandberg, a filmmaker who most recently helmed the two Shazam! movies for DC and Warner Bros. Pictures. Former G4 personality Blair Butler wrote a previous draft of the script, but the final version was written by Gary Dauberman. who also produced the film with Sandberg.

The original game featured Oscar-winner Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, and Brett Dalton as part of a group of friends who reunite in a remote mountain resort one year after two of their friends disappeared under murky circumstances. The group soon finds themselves facing a horrific threat in the wintry woods.

Peter Stormare is reprising his role as Dr. Alan J. Hill from the game, which suggests that the movie may follow the source material closely. The rest of the film cast includes Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell, and Belmont Cameli.

A remake of Until Dawn was recently released on PS5 and PC, and it even hinted at a sequel. If the movie is successful, any potential sequel for the game would possibly inform the second film as well.
