Halo Studios’ Switch To Unreal Engine 5 For Future Projects Means It Would Be Easier To Release Halo Games On PlayStation

Big news in the world of Team Green. Xbox Game Studios owned 343 Studios, the team championing the Halo franchise has rebranded to become Halo Studios.

Not only that, the way Halo Studios will make the Halo games of the future will be significantly changed by the fact that the team will now develop on Unreal Engine 5.

Ever since Microsoft started publishing its first-party games on PlayStation, there have been those asking whether or not Halo will make the jump from exclusive to multi-platform.

Just developing games on Unreal Engine 5 instead of something proprietary doesn’t exactly mean that Halo is now definitely coming to PlayStation – but it does mean that it would be a heck of a lot easier to do, should Microsoft ever decide to do it.

It’s a fact that Digital Foundry points out as well in a recent report from Eurogamer, simply because Unreal Engine is made to make games that can run well and look good on every platform.

Sure, Halo Studios can make its own adjustments to the engine that might make a port a little more complicated, but on a foundational level, it would still likely be easier to release future Halo games on PlayStation, should Microsoft ever decide to do so.
