Rumour – PlayStation 6 Has 2 SoC’s In Development, Meaning Two Consoles Could Be Coming Next Generation

Published:

PlayStation 6 has two SoC’s (System-on-a-Chip) in development according to a leaker KeplerL2, spotted on forums by Insider-Gaming.

Kepler is said to have a a good track record with hardware chips, though of course we’re still far away from PS6 actually being released, so there’s a lot that can change in that time.

The leaker also adds that they can’t say what the two SoC’s will be for, if it’s something similar to how Xbox has the two different SKU’s with Series X or Series S or they also speculate a potential console and handheld scenario.

Either way, they figure one will be built to be a more affordable device than the other.

Say what you will about the PlayStation Portal, but it cannot be denied that it continues to sell out, and if anything it has proven that PlayStation players are keen to play their games on a handheld device.

It would be extremely exciting, if PlayStation was actually developing a brand new portable console.
