A smattering of classic PS Plus Premium games just got Platinum trophies on PS4, PS5 – WGB

PlayStation Plus Premium just got three brand new PS2 games added to the catalogue, but the retro news doesn’t stop there because a smattering of classic titles have just gotten upgraded with Platinum trophy support!

As listed on PSN Profiles, the following games have been updated to include fully trophy support: Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue and Toy Story 3.

Sony hasn’t commented on the change, so its unclear as to why these games have suddenly been blessed by the trophy hunting Gods. Plenty of first-party Sony titles have trophies, but third-party games have been sporadic with their support. All of the games listed above are third-party titles, so the fact that all of them have been randomly updated would seem to suggest that Sony is the driving factor behind the decision.

It’s not like these are generic trophies, either, as some thought seems to have gone into them. Both Toy Story games task players with hunting down all the collectibles, while Oddworld has some thematic ones like killing Abe via falling or electric wall.

With trophy support popping up for these games, it raises the question of whether the likes of Tekken 2 or Ridge Racer might also get trophy support. Regardless, it’s good to see Sony supporting its emulated catalogue of games, especially now it seems PS2 games will be featuring more heavily, too.
